Reimagining Public Spaces, Together.
Friends of the Lowline
Our mission is to support the creation and long term sustainability of the Lowline.
Friends of the Lowline is the nonprofit partner to the City of Charleston, helping turn the vision of the Lowline into a vibrant reality. We're leading the charge on fundraising, community engagement, and long-term care for the space—making sure it reflects what Charlestonians truly want and need. From green infrastructure to programs shaped by local voices, we’re here to ensure the Lowline grows into a place that’s welcoming, sustainable, and rooted in community.
PHASE 1A IS ON THE WAY
Over ten years in the making, the City of Charleston is now ready to break ground on Phase 1A
Together, we are building a 2 mile linear park that will connect Downtown to West Ashley, Mt. Pleasant and North Charleston
This is just the beginning of a more connected Charleston
More than just Infrastructure
The Lowline is a bold reimagining of a historic rail corridor into a dynamic public realm—one that reconnects neighborhoods, restores natural systems, and reflects the cultural richness of the communities it serves.
The Reimagining of a public space with 200 years of history
The Lowline aspires to be a beloved green space that grows more vibrant over time.
